Professor Philip Akpen
Philip Akpen is a Professor in the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies, University of Abuja, FCT Nigeria. His research interests are in Economic and Social History with special reference to colonial and post-colonial urban amenities and infrastructural facilities.
One of his books is titled Infrastructures and Urban Amenities in Colonial Northern Nigeria, 1903–1960, published in Ibadan by Kraft Books, Ltd., in 2019. He has contributed many articles to international scholarly journals and other collective volumes.
He has also presented numerous papers at international conferences in different African countries, Europe, and America. He is a Commonwealth Academic Fellow (CAF) 2015/2016 at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a CODESRIA Laureate at the 2006 Sub-Regional Workshop on Fields and Theories of Quantitative Research, University of Ibadan.
